Is there a filtration device which will filter water without power?

I am trying to achieve a way of collecting water which may be contaminated with: mud; small pieces of grit; leafs and other outdoor rubbish. Nothing more dirty than drain pipe water. My aim is to collect it through a small tube about a centimeter in diameter. The water does not have to be spotless but cant have any lumps or large impurities in it like muddy sludge which may block the tube. I was thinking about a small gauze which is at the opening of the tube but this may become blocked relatively easily. Would be a great help if anybody had any other alternatives. Thank you
