How to get a job in a down economy?

I'm 49 years old and can't get a job. I've been on 5 job interviews in little over a year. I'm not good at school. I was a school bus driver in VA when my ex decided to stop paying child and spousal support without it I couldn't pay the rent and had to move to NV where my family lives. The DMV of NV won't issue me a CDL because I have Cerebral Palsy ( slight limp). I'm going through the VA court system again to get support but I still need and want a job. Any suggestions?
