What is a Breton shell? (pastry) Wegmann's employees might know this...?

I got a recipe for making a fruit torte and it says use a sable breton shell. I have no idea what that is, or where to get one. Google searches did not help. Does anyone know?? I got the recipe from someone who works at the special dessert counter at Wegmann's...I don't know where else they might be used though. Thanks!
